Gel Manicure vs. Regular Manicure: A blog about the differences between the two manicures.

Gel manicures are a great way to protect your nails and make them look fabulous for weeks. I usually get gel manicures because my nails are very weak and brittle and break easily. The gel better protects my nails from breaking and chipping!

I do notice that when I remove my gel polish at home, it does damage my nails a bit. The acetone I use typically dries out my nails and makes them more brittle than before. So, in order to prevent this from happening, I will start using cuticle oil every night to keep my nails moisturized!

I have also heard that if you soak your fingernails in olive oil for 10 minutes before removing the gel, that it will help prevent your nail bed from drying out!

If you love having your nails polished with a fabulous color, but hate taking time out of your busy schedule to get them done, try getting a gel manicure! It will last much longer than a regular manicure!

You’ve probably heard of gel manicures, but maybe you’re not exactly sure what all the hype is about. Is it really that different from a regular manicure? Yes, it’s a little different. Here’s what you need to know about gel polish vs. regular nail polish.

Gel manicures are long-lasting and don’t require as many touch-ups as regular polish. They last two to three weeks and won’t chip like your typical mani. The downside? You can’t just paint over them with regular polish and expect them to last nearly as long. Instead, you have to use acetone-based remover to take the gel off, which can be harsh on nails.

Regular nail polish is less durable than gel. It’ll keep for about a week and probably won’t survive washing dishes or a shower without chipping, so you’ll have to take off your regular mani more often than you would with gel. However, if you do need to remove it earlier than expected, that’s easy enough with regular nail polish remover (make sure it’s acetone-free!).

Gel manicures are a great way to keep your nails looking shiny and new. They are also much more durable than a regular manicure. However, gel nails cannot be easily removed at home. If you want to remove your gel nail polish at home, it is possible with the right tools.

Tools Needed:

Acetone-based Nail Polish Remover

Cotton Balls

Nail File

Orange Wood Sticks (also called Cuticle Sticks)

Petroleum Jelly

Plastic Baggy (optional)

Aluminum Foil (optional)

Remove Shine: First, you need to remove the shine from your nails so that the acetone can penetrate the nail polish easier. The nail file should be used to go over the surface of your nails until there is no longer any shine on them. Do not file too hard or this can cause damage to your natural nails! You just want to take off the top layer of gel polish so that you can get down into it when applying acetone-based remover later on in this process. Push Back Cuticles: Use an orange wood stick or cuticle pusher and gently push back your cuticles from the base of each nail. This will help with removing some dead skin cells as

Gel manicures are the latest trend in nail art beauty. Gel manicures can last for up to two weeks and appear as shiny as a new car. The gel manicure is essentially a manicure that uses gel instead of nail polish. The gel is a polymer and monomer liquid that hardens when exposed to UV light. Sounds pretty dangerous, huh?

Gel manicures give you long-lasting color and shine, which regular nail polish can’t always promise. The initial cost of getting a gel manicure is more than a regular manicure, but because the gel lasts longer than regular nail polish, you will save money in the long run. Additionally, gel doesn’t chip like regular nail polish does. So if you don’t like chipped nails, this may be the best option for you.

Gel Manicures vs. Regular Manicures

What’s great about gel manicures is that they look amazing right after your nail technician applies them. Regular manicures require time to dry before you can touch anything without smudging your nails or ruining your polish. But with gel, you have instant dry time, so there’s no need to worry about messing up your perfect nails while they dry.

On the flip side, some people complain that

The nail techs at my salon are always talking about gel and how it lasts longer than acrylic. I decided to do a little research on this topic so that I can weigh the pros and cons of each manicure.

Gel manicures are known to last up to two weeks. The way they work is that once the nails are painted, they are put under a UV lamp to cure the polish. This process allows for a quick-drying time, which means no more smudges! In order to remove gel polish, you need acetone because gel is a type of plastic. Soaking your nails in acetone will melt the plastic off the nail. **This may not be good for your natural nails after repeated use**.

Regular manicures dry within minutes so there is really no worry about smudging them. When using regular polish with top coat it takes about 5 days for the polish to start chipping away at your tips. Regular polish can be removed easily by just soaking cotton balls in acetone and placing them on your nails for 10 minutes.

If you love getting manicures and pedicures, like so many women do, you may have heard about gel manicures. Gel manicures are a type of nail treatment that is done at nail salons to give women a more durable and long-lasting manicure. Whereas regular manicures can often get chipped or damaged after just a few days, gel manicures can last for up to two weeks without losing their shine or color.

If you are interested in learning more about gel manicures, here is the lowdown on what they really are, how they work and the pros and cons of this type of manicure.

You’ve probably heard about gel polish, a long-lasting nail coating that comes in several different finishes, from satin to glitter. But how does gel polish differ from regular polish? And is it better than regular polish?

Gels are a little different from traditional nail lacquers. Regular polish is simply colored pigment suspended in a solvent. Gel polish can be a little thicker because of the addition of a plasticizer that allows it to be cured under LED or UV light. Gel polish also does not contain any potentially toxic ingredients like formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate.

Gel nails have been around for years, but only recently has their popularity exploded. In the past, you’d have to visit the salon or purchase an expensive kit to get your hands on gel nails. Today, drugstores carry inexpensive versions—and they even come in trendy shades like minty green and pink glitter.

So what’s so great about gels? They last longer than your typical manicure for one thing. Gel nails are cured under LED or UV light and are designed to last up to three weeks without chipping. The color is also more vibrant than traditional nail lacquer, since the pigment is suspended in a thicker formula. Your
