Gel Nails

I’m a nail polish fanatic, and I’ve been wearing gel nails for over 2 years. Here’s what I think about gel nails so far.

Pros:

-Gel nails can look great for weeks after application.

-There’s no worry about chipping or peeling.

-Gel nails are very thin, and don’t feel like “fake nails”.

-There is a wide variety of gel nail polish colors to choose from.

Cons:

-Gel nail application can be expensive. The average cost of a full set of gel overlay nails is $35 plus tip (and that’s only if you go to a nail salon and get the glue on kind). My local nail salon charges $50 per color change, plus tip. On average, I replace my color every 2 weeks, which means I spend about $100 per month on my nails alone! If you’re like me, that’s just not worth it in the long run.

-The removal process can be damaging to your natural nails. Removing gel nail polish requires soaking your hands in 100% acetone for at least 30 minutes, which is extremely drying and causes brittle nails if done often.

-Gel overlay nails are no better than regular polish if

I finally made it to the nail salon for my first gel overlay nails appointment; I’ve been wanting to try them for months. I used to get acrylic nails, but I hate the way they look after they grow out, and I’m always breaking them.

I walked into the nail salon and was greeted by a friendly face who asked if I wanted a refill or a full set. I told her that this was my first time getting gels and she showed me a book full of designs and colors. After picking out my color (China Glaze’s “No Chip”) and design (a French tip with an accent nail), we were off to the races.

A gel overlay is a type of artificial nails that is usually applied directly over your natural nails. Gel nails differ from acrylics in that the gel mixture does not contain any liquid monomers. Many people prefer gel nails to acrylic because it does not have that strong chemical smell. Also, gel nails are more flexible than acrylic and do not chip as easily.

There are many salons that offer gel overlay applications. A full set of gel overlay nails can cost anywhere from $35 to $60. A full set is when you get a complete set of ten artificial nails placed on your fingers. The salon will apply the gel mixture over your natural nail and then cure them under UV lights. This hardens the gel and keeps it in place.

Gel overlay nails are very convenient because they stay on for weeks at a time without chipping or peeling off like normal nail polish would. However, there are some disadvantages to getting a full set of these artificial nails done at the salon as well.

Gel nails are a type of artificial nail that most closely resembles the natural nail. Gel nails are similar to acrylic nails, as they are both made from a combination of monomer liquid and polymer powder. Both gel and acrylic can be applied over your natural nail or as a tip (false nail). The difference is that gel is cured under UV light while acrylic is air dried.

For some people, gel nails seem like the perfect solution to their nail problems. They can be applied within minutes and last for weeks on end without chipping or peeling. The application process is very easy and doesn’t require any special training (although practice does make perfect). But there are some things you should know before deciding if gel nails are right for you.

The biggest difference between gel nails and other types of false nails is how they’re applied. Where other types of tips or false nails need to be glued onto your own, gel overlay nails can actually be painted over your natural nail (but it’s also possible to use as tips). This means that if you decide to remove the gels, your own natural nails will still be intact underneath – unlike when you remove acrylics or other types of tips which will leave your own fallen off or damaged in some way. If you are like me, the holidays are a very busy time. Gift shopping, cookie baking, holiday parties, baking and more baking. And then school starts back up for the kids and I’m on the go again.

I love getting my nails done. But I don’t always have time to get a manicure every two weeks. So when I heard about gel overlay nails from my manicurist, I was intrigued.

So what is gel overlay nails and how does it work? There are a couple of different processes but basically the gel is applied directly over your nail and then cured (or hardened) with a UV light. This creates a hard protective coat that helps your natural nails grow out stronger and longer than they would without it.

Unfortunately there are pros and cons to everything and gel overlay nails are no exception. Let’s take a look at some of these pros and cons so you can decide if this beauty treatment is right for you.

Gel nails are the latest trend in nails, offering a long lasting alternative to the traditional acrylic and nail polish. The gel is applied as a regular nail polish would be, however it is then cured under an ultraviolet lamp, and this hardens the gel. This creates a nail that is both strong and shiny, with no chipping or peeling.

Some salons offer a service called “gel overlay” which applies a thin layer of gel onto the fingernail but not over the entire fingernail. The result is a very natural looking nail, that is stronger than just nail polish but not as thick as an acrylic tip. This can be applied to either natural nails or false tips.

Gel overlays are not cheap by any means, at least not when compared to regular manicures and pedicures. The price varies from salon to salon but expect to pay anywhere from £30-£70 for a full set of gel overlay nails. However, there are many advantages to this type of manicure that many women swear by:

1) There is no drying time so you won’t have to wait for your nails to dry before you can get on with your day

2) They last much longer than regular manicures – up to

Gel nails and gel manicures have become very popular. Gel nail products have been on the market for over 25 years, but they have only recently become more easily available and affordable to the average consumer. Gel polish is a type of nail coating used to paint fingernails that hardens under ultraviolet light. It can last anywhere from two to four weeks without chipping or peeling, which is much longer than regular nail polish. Gel nails are ideal for women who want their fingernails to look their best all the time but don’t have time to maintain them.
