Gel powder nails are an alternative to liquid gel nails and can be applied at home. They offer a more natural, flexible and less expensive option to hard gel, acrylic and gel polish. Gel powder nails can be used over tips or forms or can be sculpted over the free edge of the natural nail. The most important part of applying any product to the natural nail is ensuring that the nail bed is prepped correctly to ensure adhesion.

Gel powder nails are just like liquid gel in that they do not dry until cured in a UV or LED lamp. This means that they won’t smudge or chip. They are also removed with a soak off technique (see below) which means no filing off!

The two main brands of gel powder nails are Akzentz Luxio and Gellux Sculpture Gel. Both are available in clear and pink powders with white for French manicures and Akzentz also has a coloured range of powders.

The main difference between these two products is the consistency: Luxio is a much finer powder than Gellux (it feels more like traditional acrylic) which makes it easier to work with but also allows you to use less product on each nail as you have more control during application.

This is a tutorial designed to help you apply Gel Powder Nails at home. Gel Powder nails are an easy, affordable and functional way to add length and strength to your natural nails.
