I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing a lot of color blocking lately. Color blocking is when you pair two or more bold colors together to create a statement. In the nail world, color blocking is when you pair two or more unexpected colors together to create a look that will make heads turn. Color blocking can be fun, playful, and very modern.

I thought it would be fun to try out color blocking for my nails. I took two completely different colors and put them together to create a modern and unique look. For this design, I used OPI’s “Merry Midnight” and Essie’s “Aruba Blue”. These two colors are so bright and vivid together, they really create a great contrast that really catches the eye.

To get this look, you will need two different colored nail polishes (or more if you want), along with a thin tipped brush and some white polish (to paint the design). First paint your nails with the base coat(s) of your choice. I recommend doing two coats of each color before moving on to the next step.

Next take your white polish, and using the thin tip of your brush paint one diagonal line across your nails. This

Color blocking nails are an amazing trend. It is a mix of two or more bold colors that are block together to create an amazing look. They are usually two solid colors or two different patterns or textures. You can do this with any style, design, and colors you want! The best part about color blocking nails is the endless possibilities there are.

To start off you will need to gather all of your supplies. This includes a base and top coat, one nude polish, five other bright polishes, a small makeup sponge, a toothpick, and maybe some nail tape if you want to go for a more linear color blocked look. First paint your entire nail with one coat of the base coat to protect your nails and help the polish stick better. Then paint your entire nail with two coats of the nude polish because it is going to be our background color. Now its time to get creative! After you have painted all of your nails with two coats let them dry for at least ten minutes so we can move on to the next step!

Now its time for the fun part! Grab your small makeup sponge and soak it in water for about thirty seconds so it is nice and moist. Take one bright color and dab it onto the sponge leaving about three inches between each

I really love color blocking nails. I think every time I do a design like this, it reminds me of the color blocking trend in fashion.

Here’s one of my first designs with this technique that I did last year.

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish in Mellow Yellow, OPI nail polish in Last Friday Night and Wet N Wild Wild Shine nail polish in Black Creme.

I used a striping brush to paint on the lines and the dots. I was just going for a simple geometric design.

This time, I decided to try something new. Using a white base, I painted on black polka dots using a dotting tool and then added Xtreme Wear nail polish in Red Carpet over the dots to create that “color blocking” effect.

Color blocking is a popular trend in fashion and interior design. It refers to the use of solid colors juxtaposed against one another, often making a bold statement. Usually, color blocking tends to be done in two or three contrasting shades. Two of my favorite color combinations are red and yellow and hot pink and turquoise.

You can also use this technique on your nails to create a fun and trendy look!

The first thing you want to do is pick out two different colored polishes that complement each other.

Next, apply a clear base coat to all ten nails so that the polish will adhere better to your nail beds.

Once your base coat has dried, apply the first color to every other finger. Make sure you do not apply too many coats as it will take much longer to dry, but don’t skimp on the amount of polish either as you don’t want it to come out streaky.

Once the first color has dried completely, repeat with the second color on the remaining five fingernails. If you have any smudges or streaks, clean them up with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol (which will also act as a topcoat).

The first thing you want to do is apply a base coat, then apply the dark colored nail polish and let it dry for about 10 minutes. Then take the lighter color nail polish and apply that towards the bottom of your nails, and make sure you leave space so that both colors can be seen. Once you have applied this color to all 10 nails let it dry for about 20 minutes. Then you want to take a nail art pen or striper/liner brush and apply an angled triangle in the middle of each nail where the two colors meet. Once that is done let it dry for another 15 minutes, then apply a top coat that will protect your design and prevent them from chipping. And lastly you want to clean up any messy edges with a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover, or if you do not have any Q-tips cotton balls work just as well.

1. Paint your nails white.

2. Paint the top half of your nail with blue polish.

3. Allow it to dry and add the yellow sparkles on top of the blue polish.

4. Allow that to dry and paint the bottom half of your nail with pink polish.

5. Allow them to dry completely and apply a layer of top coat over all of your nails, except for one nail (which will be used for the design).

6. Using a striping brush and black acrylic paint, draw triangles pointing upwards on your nail and fill them in with black acrylic paint.

7. Do this for all nails except for the accent nail, which will have the triangles pointing downwards instead of upwards.

8. Add a layer of top coat over all of your nails once again to seal everything in!

Step 1: Get the look with Dashing Diva Magic Press nails. These are a great way to get a high-end salon look at home. They have a gel-like coating that makes them incredibly durable and chip resistant, so you can get a manicure that will last for up to 14 days!

Step 2: Apply two coats of Zoya Nail Polish in Ryan (a beautiful navy) and Zoya Nail Polish in Blu (a bold cobalt blue). Blu is my favorite shade of blue, so I did the ring finger on each hand in this hue.

Step 3: With the same shade of navy polish, use a nail art pen to create stripes on your ring finger. Start with one thick stripe down the middle, then add three thinner ones on each side of it. The dashes should be evenly spaced and go slightly off center at the top and bottom of your nail. The end result should be like you’re looking through a set of blinds.

Step 4: Use a small dotting tool to apply three small dots of white polish at the base of your nail where the stripes touch your cuticle. This will give you a cute French manicure look!
