Choosing Your Ombre Nail Colors

When you choose your nail polish colors for an ombre manicure, you’ll want to pick two to three shades of the same color that are very different from one another. In other words, if you choose red, pick a bright red and a dark maroon. If you choose blue, pick navy and baby blue. You get the idea.

How To Do Ombre Nails at Home

Ombre nails are a very popular nail art technique. It is a two-tone look that begins with one color at the tip of your nail and gradually fades into another color towards the base of the nail. The word ombre actually means shaded in French, which is exactly what this manicure looks like – a shade of one color to another. It’s a very chic and classy look. An ombre nail design can be created using just about any color combination you can think of, but you should use colors that compliment each other for optimal effect!

The great thing about this technique is that you don’t need any special tools or equipment to achieve it. You can do it easily at home with your own nail polish! Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Step 1: Paint your nails with the first color**

Paint all of your nails with your chosen base coat (the first color). Don’t worry if there are some streaks or patches, since we will be adding another coat on top anyway. Let it dry before moving onto the next step.**

Step 2: Apply tape

Ombre nails have been a huge trend recently and they are beautiful, but they can be expensive at the salon. Here is a step by step tutorial on how to do ombre nails at home.

Ombre Nail Tutorial

Begin by applying the base coat to your nails and allow it to dry completely.

Using the makeup sponge, dab on the white polish onto one end of the sponge and then layer on top of it one or two colors of your choice. The more colors you use the more subtlety there will be in your ombre.

Dab the sponge onto your nail starting at the tips and gradually moving up towards the cuticle. Repeat if necessary and clean up any excess polish on your fingers with a q-tip dipped in nail polish remover.

Allow your nails to dry completely before applying a clear top coat.

If you’ve been to a nail salon in the last few years, you’ve probably noticed the trend of ombre nails. Ombre nails use a color gradient to create dimension on your nails, and they are especially popular for long acrylic nails. Ombre nails can be done with different types of nail polish and tools, but we’ll show you a step-by-step tutorial on doing ombre nails with gel nail polish. This method is perfect for those who like a more natural finish that doesn’t look too shiny or fake.

1. Prep your nails by filing them into the shape you want and pushing back your cuticles. Make sure to remove any dead skin first to prevent your gel manicure from lifting later. If your cuticles are dry or peeling, do a quick cuticle oil treatment before pushing them back.

2. Apply base coat and cure under UV light for two minutes (or as directed).

3. Apply two coats of sheer pink, light blue or white nail polish on all of your fingers and cure under UV light for two minutes (or as directed). The sheer nail polish will help create a more natural look when the gradient is applied on top.

Ombre nails are a fun way to express your love of color and design. Ombre is the blending of one color hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark. It has been a popular nail art design for some time now.

I will be showing you how to do ombre nails in this tutorial, but first let’s take a look at some pretty ombre nail designs. Some of these are easy enough for anyone, while others may require some practice or experience with nail art techniques.

Ombre nails are a popular nail art trend that have been around for a while. Ombre is a gradient type of design where the color gradually changes from light to dark, or vice versa. The French manicure is a classic look that never goes out of style. You can put your own twist on the French manicure by creating an ombre version for a fresh look.

You can use almost any colors–just make sure you have light and dark colors in your chosen shade. For example, if you want to do pink ombre nails, you would need to choose two different shades of pink, one lighter than the other.

Step 1: Prepare Your Nails. Before you begin painting, you should prepare your nails for polish application with a base coat, which will protect your nails from the harsh chemicals in the polish and prevent staining.

Step 2: Prepare Your Colors. To create an ombre gradient on your nails, you will need to have both light and dark polishes in the same color family.

Step 3: Paint Your Gradient. Choose one color as your starting shade and paint it over all of your nails except for your ring finger (this will be your accent nail).

You guys know I love a good nail trend. From the negative space mani to ombre nails, there are so many fun ways to get creative with your fingertips. One of my all-time favorite nail looks is the ombre french manicure, which is basically a french manicure with a cool color fade at the tips.

Although it took me a few attempts to figure out how to do this on my own and without spending money at a salon, I finally perfected the technique and am excited to share my tips and tricks for doing an at-home ombre french mani!

Step 1: Supplies

All you need for this look is:

Nail Polish. Any polish will do, but I like using gel polishes because they last longer than regular polish and are super shiny.

Clear Top Coat. You can use a top coat from any brand, but I personally love Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel Top Coat because it doesn’t yellow over time. This stuff seriously lasts!

Makeup Sponge Wedges (optional). If you want to make your life easier during this process, I recommend picking up some cheap makeup wedges from the drugstore. The ones that come in a pack of 10 or so will be plenty.
