This is a simple method of creating your own gel nail polish remover at home.
I’ve been searching for ways to remove gel nail polish without having to go to the salon. All I want is a simple solution that works. I’ve researched this issue, and it seems acetone does the trick, but it’s extremely drying for your nails. I’ve tried soaking nails in acetone and olive oil. It worked, but it was time consuming and left my hands soft from the olive oil.
So, I thought about what else has acetone in it that doesn’t dry out my hands, and laundry detergent seemed like a good choice! It has acetone, but also moisturizing oils that are great for your skin! The only problem with laundry detergent is that it can be too thick for removal purposes, so I added water to make it thinner.

This instructable will show you how to make your own gel nail polish remover using laundry detergent and acetone. Once you have all the materials, it is a very quick process. The best part is that this method works great and costs much less than purchasing a gel nail polish remover kit.
When it comes to gel nails, you have a couple of options. You can either head to the salon for an expensive manicure, or you can give yourself a gel manicure at home. If you choose the latter, then you know that one of the most costly aspects of this is buying your own gel nail polish remover. But did you know that your laundry room can help with this? That’s right! You can use basic laundry detergent to take off gel nail polish. And, it’s really easy! This tutorial walks you through all of the steps.
What You Need To Remove Gel Nail Polish:
Nail buffer
Laundry detergent (powder)
Cotton balls
Orange stick or cuticle pusher
Hot water
Small bowl
Towel (optional)
You will need:
– Gel nail polish remover in foil capsules (found at Sally Beauty Supply)
– Laundry detergent (something cheap and clear like All Free & Clear)
– A container with a lid (I used an old butter container from the deli, but a mason jar works just as well)
Step 1:
Pour about 1/4 inch of laundry detergent into the bottom of your jar or container. You can use more or less depending on how many nails you want to soak at once. The amount I used allowed me to fit 3 nails in at once, but it was tight and I had to mash them down to get them all in there. You may also have to adjust the amount based on what kind of detergent you use. I would start with this amount and if it doesn’t seem thick enough add more detergent.**
Step 2:
Open a capsule and dump it into the jar on top of the laundry detergent. Close the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to 1 minute until mixture has become milky and slightly thickened, almost like the consistency of shampoo.**
Step 3:
Place your nail into the mixture with your finger pointing straight up so that it’s completely

2.Step 1: Remove the Gel Nail Polish From Your Nails
1. Remove the gel nail polish from your nails using a cotton ball and nail polish remover. If you have nail polish remover pads, these work as well. Make sure to remove as much of the gel as possible, but don’t worry about every last trace of it. The laundry detergent is designed to remove most or all of what remains.
3.Step 2: Put Laundry Detergent on Your Nails
1. Put some laundry detergent on your nails, using enough to cover them completely and drip down the sides of your nails. Mascara style bottles with a fine point are great for this purpose because they allow you to squeeze a small amount out of the bottle without spilling a lot all over the place. This helps you avoid wasting detergent and making a mess when applying it to your nails, as well as while removing it once it’s done its job.
If you want, you can try to make this process more eco-friendly by using a natural laundry detergent that uses fewer harsh chemicals and

The nail designs range from a simple French manicure to more complicated water marbling. The goal of French manicure is to make the nails look clean, polished, and well-manicured. The French manicure has been around for decades and it is still in vogue today. Many women find that this style of manicure suits them best because they can wear it anytime, anywhere.
The first thing that you should do when you want to give yourself a French manicure is to prepare the nail bed. You need to remove the old polish and apply a fresh coat of nail polish on your nails. If you don’t do this, your nails may look dull and unhealthy in the morning after applying the polish. Use a fine nail file or a fine piece of sandpaper to gently sand your nails down until they look smooth and shiny.
Once you have removed all traces of the old polish from your nails, apply base coat on your nails before applying any other type of nail art on them. Then, apply two coats of light brownish-colored nail paint on your nails. Remove any excess paint that might be left behind using cotton wool balls or cotton swabs dipped in warm soapy water. Allow the two coats of paint to dry for about three minutes before
