Gel nail polish is becoming a more popular choice for women all over the world. It is truly starting a new trend and is available in many different colours and brands, but not all gel nail polishes are created equal. Applying them correctly is an absolutely crucial step to having beautiful nails that last.

There is no need to see a professional in order to get salon quality gel nails anymore. You can now do your own gel nails at home with the same products that salons use. The tools you will need are a UV/LED light, Gel Base Coat, Gel Top Coat, Nail Primer (optional), Gel Nail Polish, Lint Free Wipes and Alcohol.

Prepare Your Nails

Next you want to remove any old polish on your fingers using remover or acetone which can be bought in most drug stores or

Gel nail polishes have been gaining popularity in the last few years, and for a good reason. As we all know, regular nail polishes tend to chip, peel and wear off within days of applying them. Even if you use a top coat, they won’t last long and they’re quite difficult to maintain. Luckily, gel polishes are here to save the day! They’re much more resistant than traditional polishes, which means that they stay on your nails for up to three weeks with no chipping or peeling. They also come in a lot of different shades, so you get to choose from a large range of colours and finishes, from glittery and shiny to matte and opaque. In short – gel nail polishes are easy to apply and maintain and can be used in a number of different ways. How To Apply Gel Nail Polish?

If you want your gel nail polish to dry fast

I have been doing gel nails for more than 10 years, and I would like to share some basic knowledge of applying gel nail polish.

Step 1: Prep the nail. Buff the nail until it has a matte finish. Make sure that there are no oils on the nail. Lightly buff the surface of the natural nail with a 100-180 grit file. This is vital so that the gel base adheres to the natural nail.

Step 2: Shape your nails and lightly buff the free edge.

Step 3: Apply a thin layer of PH Bonder or Acid Free Primer (acid free primer is my personal favorite) to dehydrate the nails, you only need a small amount on each nail plate, as too much will cause lifting later on when applying color gels over it. Allow 30 seconds for this product to dry.

Step 4: Apply a thin layer of Base Gel to each nail plate making sure that you cover the entire surface of the natural nail from cuticle to free edge. Do not forget to cap your free edge (the skin around your nails). Using a UV lamp cure for 60 seconds or an LED light for 30 seconds. You will want to file off any excess dust before proceeding with your next step, but please do not buff

If you decide to go to the salon every two weeks to get your gel nail polish applied and removed, it is going to cost you a lot of money. However, if you apply and remove the gel nail polish yourself, it is going to save you a lot of money. Unfortunately, there are many steps involved in applying gel nail polish on your nails. If you are not careful, you could mess up your nails. The following step-by-step process will help make sure that does not happen:

Step One: Prep Your Nails

Your nails should be clean, dry and free from any oils when you are ready to apply the gel nail polish. Before doing anything else, wash your hands with water or alcohol.

Step Two: Buff the Nails

Your nails need to be buffed so they will be smoother and easier for the polish to adhere to them. Use a buffer pad that feels like sandpaper until they become smooth and shiny. This is called de-hydrating your nails as well as removing any oils that may be present.

Step Three: Apply Base Coat

The base coat will protect your nails against stains caused by the colored gel nail polish. The same brush that comes with the gel nail polish is used for applying

Gel nail polish is a long-lasting variety of nail polish made up of a type of methacrylate polymer. It is painted on the nail similar to traditional nail polish, but does not dry. Instead it is cured under an ultraviolet lamp or ultraviolet LED. While regular nail polish formulas typically last two to seven days before chipping, gel polish can last as long as two weeks with proper application and home care.

Gel Polish Application Tips:

1. Make sure nails are free of oils and buffed to remove any shine.

2. Use a lint-free wipe with alcohol to sanitize nails before application and in between each coat of color.

3. Apply a thin coat of gel base coat, then cure for 30 seconds.

4. Apply a thin layer of color and cure for one minute. Repeat if necessary until desired opacity is achieved.

5. Apply no-wipe topcoat and cure for 60 seconds.

6. Cleanse nails with alcohol using a lint-free wipe to remove any tacky layer on the surface of your nails from the topcoat!

To get the best results, you should always use a base coat and top coat with your gel nail polish. This is because this type of polish doesn’t require a UV light to dry, but it does need something else to make sure that it fully hardens and stays put on your nails. Using a base and top coat will also ensure that your gel manicure lasts as long as possible because they help protect the colour from chipping. When you first apply the top coat, it will look very shiny. However, after about a minute or two, you’ll notice that it starts to become matte in appearance. This is because the top coat is made up of ingredients that help cure or harden the gel nail polish as well as give it shine when you first apply it to your nails. After you first use a top coat on your nails, they will look glossy but after a few minutes, they will start to look a bit duller in appearance. This is completely normal and completely fine because once the curing process has finished, your nails will return to their glossy state.

If you are looking to have that perfect manicure every single time, then gel nails are the best choice. Gel nail polish is very durable and long lasting. This means that you do not have to worry about spoiling your nails after a couple of hours of painting them. The reason for this is that the polish does not break down easily. This means that even if you are going to be travelling, your nails will still look fresh and perfect when you arrive at your destination.

Before getting started, one thing to keep in mind is that gel nail products can take a bit longer than regular nail polish. You need to be patient when doing this kind of manicure. To make it easier on yourself, it would be advisable to do the manicure in stages.
