So, here I’ve compiled my best tips about what you should do, what you shouldn’t do, and how to get the most out of your visit.
1. Going in with dirty nails can be embarrassing and extra work for your nail technician. Make sure your nails are clean before coming in. If you have excess polish from a previous visit make sure to scrape it off with a polish remover or a cotton pad and acetone before coming in.
2. When booking your appointment make sure that you have enough time to paint your nails; pedicure will take at least an hour while manicure 30-45 minutes depending on the design details and if you also want gel polish on top or just regular polish.
3. Avoid going to the nail salon after work or right after gym! Your nails will not look good if they’re still soft and wet. You need to wait at least two hours after washing dishes, cleaning, showering or exercising before getting them done so they won’t break as easily.
4. Do trim and file your own nails before
While visiting the nail salon can be a real treat, there are definitely some things that you can do to get the most out of your experience. Here are a few tips:

3. Although most nail salons do not charge for finger nail designs, if you like them, make sure to tip the person that did your nails!

5. If you don’t know what type of polish or color you want, try looking through magazines for ideas.

Beware of salons that use questionable chemicals in their products such as formaldehyde and toluene (listed in the ingredients of many conventional polishes) and methyl methacrylate (which is found in acrylics). These substances may cause health problems including headaches, nausea and possibly more serious diseases such as cancer.*
