Remove Old Nail Polish: Before applying new nail polish, make sure to remove any old nail polish.

First prepare your nails by clipping, shaping, and buffing. I recommend using a glass nail file, it is more gentle on your nails than the traditional emery board.

Apply a base coat to protect your nails from the nail polish. I used Sally Hansen’s Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment as a base coat.

Apply two coats of your favorite polish.

Place your nails in a bowl of ice water for two minutes to help set the nail polish faster. This is one of the best tricks for long lasting nail polish, but it does not work with all polishes. You can also use cold air from a fan or hairdryer to speed up the drying process.

I am so tired of my nail polish chipping and peeling, so I decided to do a little research and find out what the best tips and tricks are for long lasting mani’s. Once you’ve finally gotten your nails to look just the way you want them to, they immediately start chipping, looking dull and needing a touch up. Sound familiar? Well now there’s a way around it! There are a few tricks that can help your manicure last longer and keep your nails looking fresh until you’re ready for a new look.

I’m about to share a little secret with you. It’s not a trade secret, more of an insider tip. A handful of people know this trick, and I want to spread the word! I get asked all the time how my nail polish lasts so long without chipping. My nails used to chip like crazy when I started painting my nails. Now, I just found a way to get long lasting nail polish that lasts until you’re ready to take it off. The secret? Dip Powder Nails!

I have tried gel polish and shellac in the past and they look great after application, but they always seem to peel or chip within days. I am willing to sacrifice a little time for longer lasting manicures. So, when I heard about dip nails from one of my girl friends, I was intrigued to say the least.

What Are Dip Powder Nails?

Dip powder nails are an alternative to getting acrylic nails or using traditional nail polish. Instead of using UV light to solidify your manicure like gel nails, dip powder is applied in layers which creates the strength and durability of acrylics without the damage caused by UV lights and liquid monomers.*

One of the biggest nail polish dilemmas is making your manicure last. You want your nails to look great for as long as possible, but that isn’t always the easiest thing to accomplish. This article is going to give you some tips and tricks to get a longer lasting manicure.

Many people use base coats. This is a great way to prevent staining of the nails from polish, and it can also provide an even surface for better adhesion of the color. Without using a top coat your manicure will not last as long because it won’t be protected against normal daily activities like cleaning or washing your hands.

Second, it’s not gel: “Gel manicures are typically cured under an LED or UV light and require soaking to loosen the polish bond before removal,” she explained.

Third, they’re not necessarily bad for your nails. “As long as the manicurist applies an oil-based nail treatment to strengthen and hydrate the nails after each service, it’s no different than any other type of nail polish.” To put my mind at ease about the verdict I asked her what she thought about dip powders, and she said she loves them because they last longer than traditional polishes (about three weeks). She also said that there was less risk of chipping.

Do dip powder nails damage your nails?

No more than any other manicure would. According to celebrity manicurist Michelle Saunders, the only caveat is that you must ensure that your nail technician properly removes the dip powder before applying a new layer. “If not, there is a chance for
