For instance, if you had an acrylic set with pink powder and pink polish on top it would be considered colored.

Multicolored nails are usually used in reference to gel polish manicures. Gel polish is made up of colored pigments mixed with various glitters (hexagon glitter

Multicolored nails are nails which have been painted in more than one color. This can be done by painting each nail different colors, painting half of each nail one color and the other half another color, or doing a gradient from one color to another. Again these are only examples of the hundreds of ways you can do multicolored nails if you let your imagination run wild and experiment with the ideas you come up with.

This is a question I get asked all the time at my nail salon, and the answer is actually pretty simple. A colored nail is just that, one color. On the other hand, a multicolored nail has more than one color.

That doesn’t seem like much of an explanation, so let me elaborate. When someone comes into my nail salon and asks for “multi colored nails” they are looking for something a bit more wild! They want something that resembles the rainbow, or perhaps a sunset. In any case it is a design that is made up of many different colors. This can be done by using different polish on each finger, or by using many different colors on each finger as well. For example, a client might want every nail to be red except for their ring finger. Or perhaps they might want their index, middle and ring fingers to be red, their thumb to be black and their pinky blue. Your options are endless!

Colored nails however, usually refers to just having one color on each finger. This can mean that there are ten different colors of polish used (one per finger), or it can mean that all ten fingers have the same color polish on them. In either case there will only be one color
