With the year coming to an end, we thought we’d take a look back at 2018’s top-selling nail products. You can never have too many nail polishes to choose from. OPI nail polish is always a popular choice for manicures and pedicures. If you are looking for other options, China Glaze has a large selection of colors and finishes to choose from. The most popular nail polish in 2018 was an OPI Nail Envy color called “Bubble Bath”. This sheer formula evens out the appearance of your nails while strengthening them with hydrolyzed protein and calcium. As far as gel polish goes, there’s no surprise that Shellac won the title of “most popular”. Shellac offers two weeks of wear in over 100 different colors – including this year’s top-selling color, “Cream Puff”.

Other popular items include CND Cuticle Eraser, Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat, Essie Gel Couture Top Coat and Red Carpet Manicure Erase Gel Nail Polish Remover Wraps. If you have brittle nails or nails that break easily, try using OPI Nail Envy or

When it comes to nail polish, 2018 was the year of the negative space mani. (It’s basically a reverse French.) We also saw more holographic shades than ever before, which is great news for glitter lovers.

In case you’re looking for the biggest trends of the year, we asked nail pros to weigh in on what products they couldn’t keep on the shelves. From gel-like polishes to super fast-drying top coats, here are the top-selling nail products of 2018.

As I write this, I’m on a flight from Chicago to New York. The woman sitting next to me is clipping her nails. And I don’t mean just clipping them back a little bit. She’s got those scissors out and is really going for it. Now, that in itself wouldn’t bother me so much, but she’s using one of those little files that you can buy for $1 at the drugstore and makes a sound akin to fingernails on a chalkboard when swiped across the nail.

Now, what does this have to do with anything? Nothing at all, except that my fellow passenger is reminding me that nail products are hot right now (no pun intended). They’re big business, they’re constantly evolving and they’re not going anywhere soon.

According to Kline & Company’s 2018 Professional Salon Products in the U.S., nails had the highest growth rate of any professional salon service category in 2017, increasing over 5% and totaling nearly $1 billion in sales (or roughly 12% of total U.S. professional hair care sales). Top-selling brands include CND Shellac (pictured above), Gelish Soak-Off Gel Polish

It was a tough year for big beauty brands, but nail product companies defied the odds.

A study of the top-selling items on Amazon.com in 2018 reveals that while most cosmetics companies saw sales slip, nail products experienced an overall increase in sales.

The list includes recognizable brands like Essie ($2), Sally Hansen ($5), OPI ($10) and Butter London ($15), as well as new brands like Kiss ($4). But no matter the brand, there’s one thing all these products have in common: they’re cheap.

For example, Essie’s No. 1 selling item is its Nail Polish in a $2 bottle called Fiji. That shade is just one of several Essie colors that made the top 50 list (No. 30). Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure made the list at No. 43 for $5 a bottle.
